By Chris Heath and Mark Astley: The largest haul of Anglo-Saxon gold ever found in the UK is set to be exhibited in Stoke-on-Trent – five months after it was discovered in a Staffordshire field.

The exhibition at The Potteries Museum from February 13 and March 7, will contain more than 100 items, including some which have never been displayed before.

A public appeal has already been launched to raise the £3.3 million required to keep the Staffordshire Hoard in the region. So far around £1million has been raised by the the public, the Art Fund, and Birmingham City Council and Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

If another £2million can be raised, the treasures will be split between the Potteries Museum in Stoke and the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.

The organisers of the exhibition are expecting more than 40,000 visitors to the museum over the next three weeks.

Admission is free, but organisers hope that visitors will make a donation to the Hoard fund.
