Vale, who go into the game following a 1-1 draw away at Bury, have not lost since March 27.

Notts County secured promotion to League One with a 4-1 victory over Morecambe at Meadow Lane.

The Valiants, who lie seventh in the table, could see themselves in the play-offs if Chesterfield, Dagenham & Redbridge and Aldershot all lose.

Vale captain Tommy Fraser is poised for a return. The 22-year-old was dropped after a lacklustre display in the 1-1 home draw against Aldershot on April 10.

Fraser, who has been an unused substitute for Vale’s last two games at Accrington and Bury, now hopes to regain his place, following choice words with manager Micky Adams.

Fraser told The Sentinel: “Me and the gaffer had words, but he’s the manager and he put me back in my place.

“After playing for the reserves I’m ready to go again on Saturday – I’m fit and ready for selection.”
