Living just up the road from Brocton Crossroads I am not at all suprised that someone has very sadly lost his life today. The crossroads is a very poorly designed junction, sited between 2 speed cameras – far enough away that they do not stop people speeding through. The speed that some inconsiderate and reckless drivers, and I have to say motorcyclists in particular, travel down this stretch of trunk road is frankly scary. A motorcyle has just flown past here at a speed well in excess of the national speed limit never mind the 40 limit which is in force.

The junction really should be replaced with an island or traffic lights, such improvements would also serve to slow down the lunatic minority though to date repeated requests to review / change the junction have been refused. Perhaps with one more death on the A34 – this will change or it is a death in vain.
