StaffsLive will be covering a host of festivals this summer including V-Festival, Beach Break Live and Global Gathering. Beach Break Live student festival offered Staffordshire University students the chance to sell festival tickets in order to earn money and a free pass for the weekend. Tom Jones will be keeping you updated with the happenings at the festival!
By Tom Jones: Even though World Cup fever has taken most of Staffordshire’s attention this summer, few have forgotten that the festival season is at last upon us. Kicking off the summer proceedings is Beach Break Live student festival.

Celebrating only its fourth birthday, the festival hosted at Pembrey County Park in South Wales between dates June 14th-18th boasts an eclectic dose of infectious electro-pop from Calvin Harris, drum and bass with Chase n’ Status and melodic indie from Vampire Weekend which is sure to have the 17,000 plus crowd enthralled.
Opening the gates this Monday, the event which has already seen the likes of Dizzee Rascal, The Zutons and The Enemy grace the stage in its short history, is set to be bigger and more colourful than ever, with Ellie Goulding, Annie Mac, Plan B and Dan Le Sac V Scroobious Pip.
Delivering three nights of unforgettable music, the sand staged festival will also horde an action packed load of sun kissed activities including surfing, snowboarding, paddle boarding, tobogganing, horse riding, cloistering skating, fun fairing, workshops, hot tubs, beach bars and even World Cup screenings. Surely the Welsh contingent will be cheering on England? Yeah right.
It has been a remarkable journey for founders Celia Norowzian & Ian Forshew, which saw one appearance on BBC’s Dragons Den in 2007 explode their creation from crowds of a couple of hundered to near 20,000 in the space of four years. Beach Break Live 2010 will prove a statement of their success with a near instant sell-out forcing organisers to release an additional 500 tickets which are also set to be snapped up in record time.
So, with my Speedos packed and sun lotion at the ready, I’m set for what promises to be the definitive way to kick off the summer. See you on the beach!
