Preview: Global Gathering 2010

Once again, StaffsLive will be bringing you the low-down from the greatest festivals this summer. Global Gathering is one of the UK’s premier dance weekenders and we’ll be bringing you updates via Twitter and have a full review of the weekend’s action too, in case you can’t make it.

By Laurence Mozafari: Leek’s own James Ford, from Simian Mobile Disco, will be but one of hundreds of acts performing at the 10th annual Global Gathering dance festival in Stratford-upon-Avon.

James, who makes up half of the dance duo, will be doing a DJ set on the Carl Cox stage, alongside Dubfire and Bookashade. Global’s headliner’s this year include grime sensation Dizzee Rascal, drum and bass aficionados Chase and Status and the eagerly awaited Faithless.

Around 150 premier acts will perform to around 50,000 revelers over two-days on eight stages. Other notable headliners include  2ManyDJs, Fake Blood and Tinie Tempah, who performed at the Leek Road Venue earlier this year for the Love Music Hate Racism event.

The Godskitchen Boombox stage, which houses a huge DJ booth with video screens and massive laser shows, will host Eric Prydz, Sasha and Paul Thomas. Whilst the Live Stage includes Dirty Vegas and Chew Lips, who supported Delphic at their Sugarmill gig in April 2010.

Global Gathering has empolyed LA-based and world-renowned festival art impresarios, The Do LaB, to design both the Global Gathering VIP area and one of the two outdoor terraces.

The production teams have a history of building interactive environments, which combine large-scale installations and cutting-edge lighting design to complement the buzzing atmosphere, which the festival is renowned for.

Global Gathering’s namesake drrives from the numerous countrys which it takes place in, all over the world during the summer. The tour includes events in Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Russia and South Korea.
