The Memorial Statue in Hanley
By Leah Cassady and Kieran Jones: Residents in Stoke-on-Trent have hit out at Muslims who have burned poppies during an emotional Remembrance week.
Muslims set fire to poppies in protest and chanted “British soldiers are murderers” and waved signs saying “Burn in Hell” during the two minutes silence yesterday November 11.
There are fears there could be more protests during Remembrance Sunday (November 14).
The scenes have provoked outrage up and down the country.
Shoppers in Hanley said they found the act “disgraceful” and that they wear their poppies with pride to support our soldiers.

Jokes on them the money they spent to buy them went to help troops anyway XD
I think that the poppy burning is a disgrace.
Say what you like about the Iraq war, agree or disagree, but don’t disrespect the people that the poppy represents the most. The people who fought for our freedom during the first and second world wars.
They fought for the very freedom that imigrants to this country take full advantage of, the very people burning the poppy today.
They fought to preserve the UK’s freedom and almost unique culture of tolerance and love of cultural diversity. Yes there will be plenty of people who will say that the UK is not a tolerant county, yes there are ignorant , intolerant and racist people in any nation, in general we are a tolerant nation who welcome other cultures and religions as we have throughout our history.
How tolerant do people think this country would be if these heros had not fought for our freedom?
Do the poppy burners realy think that they would enjoy the freedoms they enjoy in the UK today under the rule of the nazis?
Do they think that Pakistan would ever have been created had Germany and Japan been allowed to carry out thier global plan? Our Heros not only fought for the freedoms of the UK and Europe, they fought for the freedom of the whole world.
I am not suprised by these cowards who have not got any respect for the country that keeps them safe. Why are they allowed to burn poppies and insult our glorious dead heroes. If we burnt anything sacred to them the law is straight onto us. What a total disgrace this country is. I have seen some horrible things in my time but this has sickened me beyond all.Cowards the lot of them.
