Detectives in Stoke-on-Trent are questioning two men held in connection with a robbery at a shop on Old Hall Street.
The two 22-year-old men were arrested a separate addresses in Shelton last night (September 2) after the raid at the Gold=Cash store at 3.45pm yesterday.
Detective Inspector Rob Thompson from Stoke-on-Trent CID said “We still need to speak to anyone who was in the Old Hall St, Hillchurch Street and Linfield Road areas of Hanley yesterday afternoon. They may have information which could help our investigation.”

By Leanne Kirtley: Items once owned to Spitfire designer Reginald Mitchell are expected to sell for up to £15,000 at auction.
Diaries, photographs and a briefcase are amongst the 23 items going under the hammer today (May 13) at Dominic Winter Auctioneers in South Cerney, Gloucestershire.
Mitchell was born in Kidsgrove, Staffordshire, in 1895 and rose to fame after designing the Supermarine Spitfire for the RAF in 1933.

By James Truswell: Stoke-on-Trent Labour group leader Mohammed Pervez has said he will not make a “knee-jerk” reaction into forming a city council coalition.
The Labour group’s successful local election campaign saw their seats on the council rise from 14 to 26 of the 60 available seats.
The party now holds the most seats on the council but, like the Tories after the General Election, not enough for an outright majority.

By James Montgomery: A motorcyclist who died in a crash on the A34 Brocton crossroads near Cannock Chase on Wednesday (May 5) has been named as Geoffrey Kevin Jones.
The family of the 55-year-old, from Lichen Close in Huntington, Cannock, say they have lost a “loving son, father and brother”.
A statement from the family said: “Throughout his life he gained the respect of a great many people through work and play.
“His untimely death will leave a big hole in all of our hearts; he will be deeply missed, never forgotten.”

By James Truswell: Labour have regained a significant majority in the Stoke-on-Trent City Council local elections as the BNP lost seats.
Labour won 17 seats of the 20 on offer – including five holds and 12 gains.
The BNP lost the two seats they were defending and failed in their attempt to regain ex-BNP member Alby Walker’s Abbey Green ward which was won by Labour candidate Gwen Hassall.
