Students outrage over being fined £5,000 by Staffordshire University Media Centre

By Kieran Jones: Figures revealed by a Freedom of Information request show students at Staffordshire University have paid out a total of £5266.01, so far this academic year (up to 24 March), in fines to the Media Centre.

The media centre provides equipment and facilities to students. Many of them are unhappy with the penalty system.

Job success for Staffordshire University journalism graduates

By James Hood: Journalism graduates at Staffordshire University are among the most likely to get jobs, according to new figures.

The Government’s Unistat report revealed 73 per cent of students had secured graduate level jobs, leaving Staffordshire second in the overall table for journalism.

The figures cover the 2008/09 period and include 25 of the 37 institutions offering a undergraduate degree in the subject area.

Students net new female football league roles

By StaffsLive Reporter: The new FA-sponsored women’s soccer league kicks off this week with a big assist from Staffordshire University sports journalism students.

The new semi-professional league – Women’s Super League – was launched at Wembley on Monday (April 11) with students and recent graduates leading the way in media coverage.

Each of the eight clubs – Liverpool, Everton, Doncaster, Birmingham, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bristol and Lincoln – have been offered student/graduates on attachment to cover match days.
