By Chris Jacobsen: Staffordshire University Students’ Union President Assed Baig will find out this week if he has survived a vote of no confidence.
Today sees the first round of polling after student Laurence Hardy brought the vote of no confidence against him.
Voting will run from February 9 to 11 and students can cast their vote in the Students’ Union.
Baig only needs one third of the students to vote in his favour to ensure he remains head of the Union.

By Emma Glanfield: Staffordshire Student Union President Assed Baig plans to organise a gig to raise money for Haiti.
The Student Union has so far raised £400 for aid relief in the earthquake-stricken island.
A bake sale held outside the Student Union raised £270, and a collection box at the students’ weekly nightclub event Gobble bumped the funds up.

Demonstrators, led by Student Union President Assed Baig, marched around the Stoke Campus.
Student Union Education and Welfare officer Vanessa Brumby was delighted with the turnout.
She said: “Everyone who came along was really positive, so it’s nice to see that people out there support us.

Assed Baig told StaffsLive it was “the right thing to do” and vowed to stand by his “political principles”.
The BNP has lodged a complaint with the police after the link containing local members’ addresses was posted on the internet.

The union is proposing a campus-wide ban of publications such as Nuts and Zoo as they feel the magazines objectify women.
