Emma Copestake, 24, of Foley Road, Longton, was struck by a moving vehicle after she fell on to the dual carriageway.

Flowers have been laid at the bridge on the Baths Road/Foley Road roundabout near Longton Tesco Extra store.

Police confirmed the 24-year-old woman, who has not been identified, was struck by a vehicle and died from her injuries.

A section of the A50 at the Heron Cross Roundabout, Longton, near the Tesco store were closed for more than four hours.

Fire crews from Hanley, Longton and Newcastle were called to the accident where one car was overturned.
The woman was taken to North Staffordshire Hospital.
A man driving the other car was also injured and treated in hospital.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said they were suffering from minor injuries.
Staffordshire Police are investigating the cause of the accident which happened at about 8.40am.

An elderly woman is in a critical condition in hospital in Stoke-on-Trent after she was hit by a car in Longton.

The accident happened on Weston Coynoy Road at 4.40pm today (October 19).

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The woman had suffered multiple injuries and was unconscious.”
