New Hanley fire station ahead of schedule

The project which was scheduled for completion on July 15 could now be ready as early as the end of June.

The new site boasts a number of modern training facilities, such as a foam pit, a fire house and – once the temporary building is demolished – a training area for road traffic incidents.

Staffordshire fire campaign launched after shock figures

The county’s fire crews were called to 1,057 house fires between April and December 2010 – with a staggering 52% of those caused by cooking.

Time capsule tribute to Hanley fire station

The capsule contained a number of items including a DVD produced by children from St Luke’s Primary School about their view of life in 50 years time.

Firefighters tackle kitchen blaze in Meir

By Lee Kettle: Firefighters have tackled a blaze at a house in Meir.

The incident, which happened on Kingsdale Close at 4.10pm yesterday (March 7), started when cooking was left unattended and caused severe smoke damage through the property and damaged several appliances.

Nobody was injured in the blaze, although the residents of the house had attempted to re-enter the property to extinguish the fire themselves before calling 999.

Pictures reveal students’ lucky escape from house fire

StaffsLive has been given an exclusive look inside the Leek Road property which was gutted after the blaze on November 6.

The fire – which police are treating as unexplained – has caused around £80,000 worth of damage to the house.
