Talke boxer Nathan Russo “devastated” by injury

By Daniel Milligan: Staffordshire University student and Impact ABC boxer Nathan Russo said he had tears in his eyes after being ruled out of the Amateur Boxing Association (ABA) competition with torn shoulder tendons.

The 19-year-old welterweight, from Talke, claimed the Clubs for Young People (CYP) Midlands title in 2010 and was hoping to finish the season on a high at the annual showcase event which runs throughout March.

But the injury, which is expected to keep Russo out of action for six weeks, meant he had to pull out of the national competition and the University Boxing Championships which started on February 17.
