Glen Jones
I am a full-time Senior Lecturer in Film, Radio and Television studies in
the School of Arts, Media and Design. I have been employed by the
Staffordshire University since 1996. I have also taught at the Liverpool
John Moores university and the Open University on their film studies
awards. Before teaching in Higher Education, I was working in Further
Education at the Kingston College of Further Education, Surrey and
Wirral Metropolitan College on Merseyside. I gained my first Masters’
degree in Physical Education at Brighton University and second
Masters’ degree in Film and Cultural studies from the Manchester
University.
Teaching Responsibilities: Despite my main interest and expertise being in Film Studies I have
taught on many modules relating to film, TV and radio studies. I have
also taught on post-graduate awards being offered by the faculty. I am a
module leader and personal guidance tutor.
Research interests: My research interests include the sports film, British cinema
(particularly the relationship with new Labour) and censorship.
Publications: I have had articles and essays printed in the UK and USA. I have
undertaken a number of book reviews for various publishers.

Conferences
I gave a conference paper in 2001 entitled squids, bugs and aliens
organised by the Open University in Leeds that focused upon science
fiction film.
Current Research activities
I am at present considering a number of possible contributions
External Engagement (such as externalships and so on)
I was external examiner for Suffolk College of Higher Education between
2003-2006 on their BA Media awards.
