This award is build around your ability to choose pathways of study in such areas as the HISTORY, BUSINESS or TOURISM aspects of leisure and leisure sites.
The flexible nature of the award also allows you the opportunity to study your own very particular area of interest, whether it be Blackpool, Coney Island, the Disney parks, Alton Towers or any other leisure space past, present, or even future.
This new and innovative degree is designed for BOTH those with a specific interest in working at the cutting edge of the leisure industry – and/or those with a particular interest that they wish to study and nurture.
Or, you may already be working in the media and leisure industries and wish to take your experience and use it to improve your career prospects by either studying full or part-time.
At Staffs Uni, we’re just down the road from Alton Towers, and have formal links with the Towers – as well as a range of other leisure and media organizations.
The team responsible for teaching this award have a range of valuable expertise to share. As Award Leader, my specialism is in media and leisure. I gained a Ph.D based around the historical and contemporary study of a range of leisure spaces (such as the carnival, fairgrounds, amusement and theme parks). I also produce historical documentary and am currently building a heritage web-site with Alton Towers www.altontowersheritage.com
