About Localise

Localise is a new project bringing together people in Poland, Lithuania and Stoke-On-Trent. Localise is based on work which has been going on over the past two years between Warsaw University (Poland), Kaunas University (Lithuania) and Staffordshire University.

University of Warsaw Vytautas Magnus University

The project focuses on creative approaches to regeneration, health and well being and community practice in each of the countries and what we can learn from each other. Localise brings people from each country together for six study visits, two in each country.

The first study visit was in March 2011 in the West Midlands. Participants experienced and heard about a range of community arts and regeneration activities and initiatives, in North Staffordshire and Walsall. We began to form a shared understanding of the different approaches to practice in each country.

The second study trip hosted by Vytautus Magnus University in Lithuania took place in June 2011. The participants from all three countries shared individual practical approaches with group exercises and discussions. On an international scale the group travelled to several different cities in Lithuania exploring both practice and approach to community arts / cultural animation and the history on these issues throughout the country.
