Welcome to the Philosophy Department!

We are a small, research-intensive Department, specialising in modern 'continental' philosophy. We offer undergraduate degrees in philosophy, ethics and many interdisciplinary subjects including philosophy's relationship to the visual arts and to literature. In our areas of specialism, we also offer a taught MA and PhD supervision.

The Philosophy Department is pleased to welcome Professor Fabio Ciaramelli to the University in June, for a series of talks and workshops.

 

John Sallis

We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Professor John Sallis of Boston College as Visiting Professor at Staffordshire University. Professor Sallis is among the most respected philosophers working within European thought, and his long list of publications includes important work on Plato, Heidegger, Kant and Nietzsche, among many others.

Congratulations to Dr. Marc Roberts, who has just passed his viva and received a PhD in Philosophy from Staffordshire University.
