John Sallis

We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Professor John Sallis of Boston College as Visiting Professor at Staffordshire University. Professor Sallis is among the most respected philosophers working within European thought, and his long list of publications includes important work on Plato, Heidegger, Kant and Nietzsche, among many others.

Professor Tony O'Connor (University of Cork, and Visiting Professor of Philosophy at Staffordshire University) contributes to the Fine Art and Philosophy Research Group, which held meetings at Staffordshire University in September 07 and February 08. Professor O'Connor is past president of the British Society for Phenemenology, and past Chairman of the National Committee for Philosophy, Royal Irish Academy. His work is primarily in the area of hermeneutics -- or historical ontology -- and especially on the philosophy of the visual arts. Professor O'Connor will return to Staffordshire during the academic year 2008-9.
