The E-mentoring Team:

Project Leaders

Dr Janet Wright - Janet is a principal lecturer in Geography and the subject leader for Geography. She is based in room S131 on the first floor of the Mellor Building

Jean Simpson – Jean is a the Student Guidance Advisor for the Faculty of Sciences and her key role is to provide students with advice, guidance and information on a wide range of educational issues as well as specialist advice and support. She is based in the Recruitment Centre in the Mellor Building


Staff Team

Allan Watson - Allan is a lecturer in Geography. He is based in room S133 on the first floor of the Mellor Building

Mel Hall – Mel is a lecturer in Psychology and Mental Health and also the first year co-ordinator for the Psychology awards. She is based in room S242 on the second floor of the Mellor Building

Mark Jennings – Mark is the Faculty IT manager and is responsible for all student IT support and issues within the Faculty. Mark is based in the Sciences I.T. Suite on the fourth floor of the Mellor Building

Michael McMillan – Michael is the Head of the Counselling Service within Employability and Student Support. He is based in 4/5 Winton Square on Station Road, Stoke

Dr Paul Orsmond – Paul is a senior lecturer in Biological Sciences and a university learning and teaching fellow. He is based in S520 on the fifth floor of the Mellor Building

Laura Walton – Laura is a research associate in Forensic Science. She is also a first year Forensic Science tutor, co-ordinates the Forensic Science PDP scheme and is responsible for the Forensic Science website. Laura is based in room S303 on the third floor of the Mellor Building


The Mentors

Approximately fourty second and third year students will be trained in mentoring and will mentor up to eight first year students each.


The Mentees

All first year students for the September 2011 intake to Biological Sciences, Forensic and Crime Science, Geography, and Psychology and Mental Health will be offered an e-mentor (a second or third year student from their subject area) for their first year at Staffordshire University.
