In this module you will study a range of environmental issues facing the human race. Learning will be via the use of the WWW and no direct class contact is involved. The actual problems you study will vary but could include problems linked to conservation issues, environmental exploitation, ozone depletion, biodiversity loss, global warming, food supply, energy resource management, contaminated land and urban air pollution. It is envisaged that a number of topics will be on offer, you choose the actual specifics. Typical questions you may be asked to investigate could include, Is there a role for zoos in the 21st Century? The future of the Antarctic, Should we try to save the Giant Panda? Ethics, economics and conservation and Acid rain: fact or hype?
Assessment:
A written summary (500 words)
of your findings for 2 of the questions you have investigated. (2x 25%).
For the remaining question a more detailed treatment where the end point
is the creation of a WWW site (50%).
