
The Faculty of Sciences is moving towards becoming more sustainable both with students and staff.
The Faculty of Sciences Green Group has been created to drive forward
initiatives, awareness and best practises of becoming 'green'.
Terms of Reference :
1. To raise awareness of environmental and sustainability issues and to promote improved environmental performance across the Faculty of Science.
2. The group will report to the Faculty Health, Safety and Environmental Committee on environmental performance in their areas and contribute ideas and suggestions. Relevant environmental projects (such as studies on University transport patterns) from (for example) IESR will be promoted via the group.
3. Group members will, where possible, participate in any relevant training and awareness, and invite individuals to attend meetings where their expertise or interests will be helpful in the role of environmental representatives.
4. Members will take part and champion environmental reviews and improvement programmes within their Faculty/Service, with guidance from the University Environmental Working Group. This will enable the Group to set objectives and targets as well as develop action programmes to improve environmental performance in their areas.
5. Environmental representatives will report back to Faculty/Service senior management, staff meetings and through other appropriate routes to disseminate the latest developments to improve environmental performance across the University and to report back on progress in their areas at a local management level.
