BIOGRAPHY

I'm a Stokie born and bred. Mark Jennings Photo
I've worked at the University since 1981 - it was a Polytechnic back then. On joining the establishment I undertook a degree in Physics & Electronics part time whilst working as a Physics Technician.
I then spent several years teaching part time in Computer Studies and later on in both Physics and Electronics. Following my degree I obtained a Teaching Certificate in Further and Adult Education (to see if I was any good at putting the stuff over) -
I got a distinction and was told I had great empathy with the students I taught.

Later I was promoted to Senior Technician in Physics, where until 1995 I spent many happy years helping students to achieve their goals. During my time in Physics I migrated into I.T. troubleshooting so when Sciences decided to reorganize I ended up here, as the Sciences I.T. Manager.

Around 1999 I was given the title of Technical Team Leader which gives me reponsibility for the staff and facilities of our Learning Resource Centre, as well as the Sciences I.T. staff and facilities.
In 2004, I was further promoted, to Faculty I.T. Manager with responsibilty for the entire Faculty I.T. management, planning and staff.

OTHER USEFUL FACTS

I'm the guy responsible for anything to do with the Faculty I.T. provision and am based within the Sciences I.T. Suite and facilities, so if you have any problems please feel free to come and share them with me, I'm always willing to listen to any constructive criticism and will take comments on board to try and improve these facilities for students, or . . email me on  m.jennings@staffs.ac.uk

Please be aware that the Sciences I.T. Suite is not a general university I.S. facility but is designed primarily for science students and the use of specialist scientific software !
If I'm not around Jon, my able colleague, will assist you with any problems that you have.
Jon's the big runner with the pony tail, or try our Frequently Asked Questions page.

You may also see me in the Uni gym or at Fenton swimming pool - feel free to say hello, you may be giving me a chance for a welcome breather!
I play golf at Wolstanton Golf Club and enjoy my favorite sport of downhill skiing during the winter months - so when I'm not around you can guess where I'll be.
I've also been a Tai Chi practitioner for many years, nowadays I tend to spend more time doing Chi Kung (Qigong), chinese meditation and healing, than Tai Chi and regularly attend the Kagyu Samye Ling Monastery in Scotland for some rest and relaxation, they do great work for World Peace!

I'm also a real ale fanatic so can often be found frequenting many of the local hostelries or students union bars as a reward for a hard days work - the harder the day the earlier you're likely to find me there and you'll always find me receptive to the offer of a beer and a chat.
