Job Title and Responsibilities
Course leader, BSc (Hons) Psychology
I have overall responsibility for the management and smooth delivery of the BSc (Hons) Psychology degree here at the University. This is a great course, with opportunities to dip into lots of different aspects of Psychology, both theoretical and applied.
I also teach in the areas of Organisational Psychology, Forensic Psychology and Social Psychology. I am also responsible for maintaining the British Psychological Society accreditation for the Undergraduate psychology courses here.
I have been at Staffordshire University for a while now, and began my career in Organisational/Occupational psychology. I’m particularly interested in the applied side of Psychology, and how useful and relevant it can be in the ‘real’ world. Although I still teach in this area, I have also moved into a different area of expertise after ‘discovering’ criminological and forensic psychology, and now consider that my specialism and primary subject. I originally graduated from Aston University and did postgraduate study in Forensic Psychology at the University of Leicester.
MSc (Distinction) Applied Forensic Psychology
B.Sc. (Hons) Behavioural Science, majoring in Psychology
My research interests lie in forensic psychology- specifically the motivation to deceive in police interviews, and the application of psychological predictive models to understand motivation to deceive. In my current role I am also interested in the student experience and am interested in understanding perceptions of barriers to success in HE.
