Research Interests

My primary area of research is the legal response to ‘Forced Marriage’ in the UK. I am developing internal and external networks and collaborative relationships with NGO’s In the field. I have published and presented on the impact of ‘Forced Marriage’ on adults. I am currently working on comparative studies with colleagues in the EU and Pakistan. These projects have attracted TESS funding and further bids are in development. My research in the area informs my undergraduate and post graduate teaching. I have developed short courses for stake holders and professionals on the new legislation that will criminalise the practice of forced marriage in the UK for the first time.

My research in Family Law also stems from my doctorate and is focused on divorce and its history. I recently wrote a chapter for the family law book Essays for Stephen Cretney (publication March 2012 Intersentia).
