Sue took up the role of Pro Vice Chancellor (Student Experience) during January 2017, stepping up from Interim Deputy Vice Chancellor, a role she had been in at Staffordshire University since September 2016. Her role with Staffordshire University will include responsibility for Partnerships, Marketing and PR, and Academic Policy and Development with a focus on the Quality agenda and Student Recruitment.
Sue has over 22 years’ experience at a senior level in Higher Education including the role of Pro Vice Chancellor and has worked extensively in the international development field. Previous roles have included CEO of IEOglobal, Pro Vice Chancellor at York St John University and Director of Student Recruitment & Business Partnerships at the University of Sunderland.
She has been fortunate in her career to have managed a portfolio that includes every point in the student journey as well as ensuring that the institution operates as a successful business.
Her experience covers the establishment of partnerships and development of Trans-national delivery and branch campuses around the world such as Europe, USA, China, Pakistan and India.
She has managed numerous international and UK based projects holding many key responsibilities, including:
Chair of East Durham College Board (FEC)
Chair of the City of Sunderland Economic Masterplan University City; bringing together education providers, private sector companies and 3rd sector organisations to write and deliver the master plan that would deliver the workforce to ensure the economic prosperity of the city.
She is currently a member of the QAA Board (and will take up the role of Audit Committee Chair in December); Goldsmith's University of London Council and the Foundation of Light Education Board. In addition she is the Chair of Trustees for KYRA women's project and coordinates the York Professional Women's Network.
