DLHE Survey

Recently graduated? We’d love to hear what you did next. The annual survey of recent graduates (DLHE) is now open!

Please support us by completing the survey now.

The Destination of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey is important because your opinions will help us to shape our courses for future generations of students and the results influence how employers view your qualification. We are interested in any work and/or further study you will be doing on 12 January 2017 and beyond.

It should only take a few minutes to complete. Most of the questions just require you to select a box with your answer. Once you have finished, make sure that you have submitted your completed questionnaire by following the instructions. You can fill in the questionnaire online at any time from now until 7th March.

If you need assistance in completing the questionnaire, or need access to it in an alternative format, please contact the Careers Network on 01782 294991 or email careersnetwork@staffs.ac.uk.

Although you have now completed your course, the Careers Network is still available to help you with any career-related issues you have. Also, our Alumni team would love to hear what you are getting up to, so please contact us, let us know and always remember to keep in touch! Why not take a look at our graduate profiles and see if you spot anyone you know?

What is the DLHE survey?

This is a national survey of everyone who has recently qualified from any university or HE college in the UK. The information you provide will be very useful to us at Staffordshire University to advise our current students about the opportunities that might be available to them, as well as letting us know how you are currently doing. Of those who obtained qualifications across the UK in 2014/2015, 79% responded to the survey. Of these, 72% reported that they were working and a further 6% were working and studying. 13% were undertaking further study and only 5% of leavers were assumed to be unemployed. More results can be found here.

What if I don’t fill the survey in?

If we don’t hear from you we will try to contact you again, possibly by phone, so please let us know if you change your email address or phone number.

What if I am not available?

If we can’t get in touch with you at all, we may try to get information about what you are doing from someone else, either at Staffordshire University or someone we can reach using the contact information you have previously provided.

What if I don’t want to be contacted?

If you don’t want us to contact you about the DLHE survey, or you don’t want to give us any information at all, please tell us either by phone 01782 294991 or email careersnetwork@staffs.ac.uk.

IFF Survey – 3 years later

A follow up survey is planned for three years’ time so that we can get even more information about the early careers of those with HE qualifications. You might be asked to take part in this follow up survey as well, which will be carried out by a different organisation. The current survey may also be audited – that is checked to make sure it has been carried out correctly. If you don’t want to take part in the follow up survey, or be contacted during an audit, please let us know. You can also let us know that you do not want to take part in the follow up survey by ticking the box at the end of the questionnaire.

What happens to your information?

The data we gather will be used in accordance with our registration under the Data Protection Act 1998. We have a statutory and legal requirement to supply some of the data to third parties, such as the Higher Education Funding Council for England or agents acting on its behalf who may contact you directly to take part in surveys to provide feedback about the quality of your course, the Higher Education Statistics Agency, Social Security, your Local Education Authority (to allow to claim tuition fees, for instance), Student Loans Company, and the Police (in connection with potential criminal offences), your term time Local Education Authority or Borough Council (to enable you to claim exemption from Council Tax), our Alumni Office, and Professional Bodies. This list is not exhaustive. We will send information from this form to the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA). This data will be linked to other information held about you as a student, including information you gave when you enrolled, and details of the qualification you gained. HESA may link information we have provided to other related datasets such as UCAS, NSS, Individual Learner Record and Student Loan Company data and some linked data may be used to supplement the HESA Student Record.

We will send information from this survey to the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA). The uses that HESA makes of your survey responses are described in detail here.
