What is my username and password?
All of our systems will require you to provide a University username and password to log in.
Your username is printed on your student ID card, and looks something like this:
Your password is secret and only you should ever know what it is. If you think you have forgotten your password, or you would like to change it for any reason, you can do so by using our self-service password reset function.
Forgotten your password?
You can reset your password any time you like by going to the following web page:
When you go to the page at the above link, enter your username in the box and click the Next button. A PIN will be immediately sent to your personal email address - simply enter this PIN on the password reset screen and you will then be asked to choose your new password.
Choosing a Strong Password
Choosing a strong, unique password for each important account you have helps to protect against unauthorised access to your personal information.
Be at least 8 characters long
Use a mixture of uppercase (A-Z), lowercase (a-z), numbers (0-9) and special characters (@ # ? < > ! £ $ % + -)
Not be a password you have used before
Avoid common words or personal details e.g. your name, date of birth, house/street name, pet's name, etc.
Avoid using common keyboard patterns (e.g. qwertyuiop, 2wsx3edc4rfv)
Three Random Words
The recommendation from the Cyber Aware campaign is to use three random words. These can be any three words in any order, and numbers or special characters can still be used, for example 7blueElevat0rRis!ng33, but don't use words or phrases which are easy for other people to guess e.g. TheLionKing.
