No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.

Black History Month was first officially celebrated in the UK in 1987 but its origins go back as far as 1926. It aims to promote knowledge of Black History, culture and heritage. It also aims to disseminate information on positive Black contributions to British society and heighten the confidence and awareness of Black people of their cultural heritage.
