Making The Difference: an Introduction to Equality
This compulsory session forms part of our Induction programme for new staff. All new staff are expected to attend a session within six months of starting at the University. Sessions are run at the Stoke and Stafford campuses throughout the year.
The session covers general aspects of equality, diversity, stereotyping and behaviour at work, as well as the protected equality characteristics covered by current legislation - age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation. The session is very informal and activity based.
Participant comments include:
"Great workshop, thank you!"; "Fantastic resources for event. Dyslexia friendly resources.";"Interesting, enjoyable - lots to make me think" ;"All aspects of the session very good - very informal and relaxed"; "Range of teaching methods was great." "Would recommend session to all."
New members of staff will automatically be invited to attend, but if you have any queries please contact Gill Grainger or telephone 01785 353391.
