The Health and Safety Unit is part of Human Resources and Organisational Development.
The Unit aims to provide a professional advisory service on health and safety matters to the University Management, Staff and Students to assist the University to meet its legal obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other legislation. We are here to enhance health and safety performance with a view to making Staffordshire University a healthier and safer University. We aim to raise awareness of the importance of health and safety issues amongst all staff and students at the University. Other functions include:
- Formulation and implementation of related policies
- Monitoring and coordination of health and safety procedures throughout the University
- Organisation of a central health and safety training programme
- Liaison with external authorities
