Accessing email on mobile phones

Students

The student email was upgraded in August 2014, if you already have the university email on your phone you will need to remove the old account and then add it again using these new settings.

 

iPhone:
Go to Settings, then "Mail, Contacts, Calendars", then "Add Account"
Select "Microsoft Exchange"
Enter your email address in the format <username>@student.staffs.ac.uk (e.g. a000000a@student.staffs.ac.uk)
Use your usual university password, then press Next.
The phone will verify your settings then allow you to choose what is synced. Press Save
Select the Exchange account again and change "Mail Days to Sync" to "No Limit".

 

Android:
Go to Settings, then Add Account. If you can't see this option try the General tab, then Accounts.
When prompted for the account type select Microsoft Exchange Activesync, Corporate, or Email.
Enter your email address in the format <username>@student.staffs.ac.uk (e.g. a000000a@student.staffs.ac.uk)
Use your usual university password, then press Next.

You may be prompted for the server settings, you need to change:
Domain\username: Your email address (e.g. a000000a@student.staffs.ac.uk)
Exchange server: outlook.office365.com
Press next.
The phone will verify your settings then allow you to choose what is synced.
Change "Period to sync Email" from "3 Days" to "All", then press Next

 

Other devices:
You will need to select the account type Microsoft Exchange or ActiveSync
Most devices will only need you to enter the email address and password
Enter the email address in the format: <username>@student.staffs.ac.uk (e.g. a000000a@student.staffs.ac.uk)

If it asks for further settings, use:
Server: outlook.office365.com
Domain\Username Your email address, e.g. a000000a@student.staffs.ac.uk
If Domain and Username are separate text boxes, leave the Domain box empty and type your full email address in the Username box.

 

 

Staff

You need to add a new account on the phone, and the account type will be Exchange, ActiveSync or MailForExchange.
If the phone asks for server details, use these:

iPhone/Android Server: weboutlook.staffs.ac.uk
Blackberry Server: https://weboutlook.staffs.ac.uk/owa

Username: <username>
Domain: staff
Password: <password>
Email: <university e-mail address>
    (e.g. a.b.cribbins@staffs.ac.uk)

If that does not work, try:
Username: staff\<username>
    (e.g. staff\abc1)
Domain: <blank>
Password: <password>
Email: <university email address>
