Library Lending Services

Our promise to you:

  • Our Customer Services staff will be available at the service points during staffed hours.

  • You will not have to queue for longer than five minutes to speak to a member of staff or access a self-service facility or printer.

  • Reservations will be available for collection within two working hours of being returned to a Customer Services desk.

    •  Service Standards monitoring results for 13 and 15 February 2018:

      • Number of books shelved = 115

      • Maximum time taken = 11 hours 29 minutes 

      • % shelved within 48 hours of being returned = 100%

  • 99% of returned books will be back on the shelf within 48 working hours. (Exceptions include weekends and peak return times, such as the start and end of semesters.)

    •  Service Standards monitoring results for 13 and 15 February 2018:

      • Number of books shelved = 115

      • Maximum time taken = 11 hours 29 minutes 

      • % shelved within 48 hours of being returned = 100%

  • Current issues of printed journals will be made available within 24 staffed hours of receipt.

  • Self service facilities will be available 99% of our opening hours.

What we can do for you:

We offer an extensive library lending service, with comprehensive ‘back office’ support. Valid cardholders can borrow a wide range of items. A large number of electronic resources are also available online. 

Who this is for:

Our lending services are available to staff, students and members of the public. However, if you are not a staff member or student, restrictions may apply. View the different types of membership and borrowing entitlements.

How to use it:

Simply visit any of our libraries during opening hours.  You will need a valid student or staff library card to access the lending facilities during self-service opening times. Available in all libraries, self-service facilities allow customers to borrow, return items, and pick up reservations.  Reserved items cannot be collected from Shrewsbury Health Library during self-service opening hours. Reservations can also be made online and by phone.

Charges:

We do not charge valid cardholders to borrow items from the library in line with our library regulations. However, charges are made if items are not returned on time or are lost or damaged.  View our current charges.
