About Student & Academic Services (SaAS)

The quality of the student experience is often one of the most significant factors that determines whether a student completes his/her study at University.

Student and Academic Services (SaAS) impacts on the student experience throughout the student journey from first contact on campus during Welcome Week and enrolment, the availability of support services and professional administrative support, the SaAS team plays a vital role in facilitating a student’s journey through the University.

In particular:

  • On campus students have a central physical Information Point on campus to answer most queries
  • For students who are not physically present on site for some or all of their time, there is a central team who will be the main point of contact via email, telephone or through web based information

SaAS consists of:-

Information Points

The Information Points provide a comprehensive advice and information service to students on all student related matters including:

  • The ability to submit coursework

  • Withdrawal, transfer, intermission

  • Extenuating circumstances

  • Student regulations

  • Module enrolment and award changes

  • Examination

  • Tuition fees

  • Timetabling

  • Student ID cards

  • Award ceremonies

  • Disclosure and Barring Service Applications

  • Complaints and Appeals

The staff employed within the Information Points are knowledgeable across a broad range of issues in order to assist students at the first point of contact.  Where onward referral is required, the team ensure the enquiry is transferred to the appropriate function in a professional and structured way.

A range of Student Services are provided, which can be accessed by onward referral from the ‘Information Points’ or by direct access as appropriate.  These services include:

Student and Course Administration

Student and Course Administration provides administrative and support activities to the Faculties.

  • Servicing of Staff/Student Course Committee
