IT Facilities

All Information Services computers have Microsoft Office, email and Internet, eLearning, and course related software for use by all students and staff. We also have specialist software for students with sight or Dyslexia problems.

  • Opening Times and Availability - Student IT facilities
    During normal term time, student computer facilities are available weekdays and weekends. Many days have extended opening until 3am.
  • Student Computer Facilities
    We provide and manage general access student computer facilities in the libraries and three main learning centres. All student IT Learning Centres and Libraries are fully accessible by wheelchair users.
  • Staff IT Facilities
    We endeavour to provide both excellent IT facilities and advice to enable you to get the most from using IT.
  • Computer Facilities and Software for People with Disabilities
    We provide a range of services, equipment and support for people with disabilities including equipment to help students and staff with visual and physical impairments.
  • Specifications of PCs and Related IT Equipment
    Details of the standard baseline for all University IT Desktop Hardware, with solutions and services provided by a sole IT partner - Phoenix Computers.
  • Email - About Email at University
    The email software used on all PCs within the University is Microsoft Outlook. Apple Macs use Microsoft Entourage. You are expected to use your University Email Account for University related messages.
  • Help and Advice with using Computers
    We provide full support and help with any queries you may have when using the University's computers and common software packages, and we'll do our best to help with queries on more specialised packages.
  • User Guides, Books and Manuals
    We offer a range of free user guides to help you with using software, email and the internet. The Library also stocks books and guides for using software.
  • Using your own Computer
    Access resources with your own computer using our online and network services.
  • Rules and Regulations - Your Responsibilities
    When using the computers and IT facilities, be aware of your responsibilities and abide by the University IT Policies and Regulations.
