About the Library

*You are in: Home > Services > Info Services > Library > About

University Libraries are managed by Information Services. Our Libraries aren't just about books - they are a massive resource of information tailored to the needs of our students and staff. Go on give us a try, you'll be amazed what we come up with!

  • Locations and Sites
There are two main libraries at the Stoke and Stafford campuses, together with specialist libraries for Law at Stoke and Health at Shrewsbury. University students and staff also have access to our partnership libraries at Lichfield, Oswestry and Telford.
  • Opening Times
Flexible opening times mean that you can study practically any time, anywhere. Thompson and Nelson Libraries are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for those who like to work late on campus.
  • Collections and Archives
Our collection is so much more than books on shelves - you have access to a library collection that includes a wide range of eResources, journals, specialist and rare materials, plus DVDs and CDs.
  • Services and Facilities
We supply everything from a standard loan through to unique electronic sources of information, collections and research materials. All our libraries provide computing facilities, flexible learning areas and study areas.
  • Membership and Entitlements
Staffordshire University students and staff have free membership with full borrowing entitlements - a maximum of 17 items can be borrowed at any given time for up to 2 weeks. Membership and entitlements for other people depends on the category of borrower.
  • People with Disabilities
We provide a range of services, equipment and support for people with disabilities. All Libraries and IT Centres within Information Services are fully accessible by wheelchair users. For people who are unable to use stairs, lifts provide access to different floor levels within the libraries.
  • Help and Advice
We have staff specialising in all subject areas - they are there to help you find the right information for your course.
  • Regulations and Your Responsibilities
All members and visitors to the library must comply with the University's policies and procedures governing these facilities.
