Our collection is so much more than books on shelves - you have access to a library collection that includes a wide range of eResources, journals, specialist and rare materials, plus DVDs and CDs.
Exam papers and student projects/dissertations are kept within individual Faculties. For more information please contact your Faculty Office.
- Search the Library catalogue
Search for specific titles or books, videos, CDs and DVDs by a specific author, title or general keywords.
- eResources
Information Services subscribes to a wide range of electronic resources. Search for eBooks, eJournals and databases - there is a world of online information available both on and off campus.
- Short Loans collection
All sites have Short Loan collections available to all University users (reference only for non-University members). Items in the collection are in very heavy demand and can only be borrowed for 24 hour periods.
- Journals and periodicals
We subscribe to a wide range of journals and periodicals in electronic and print formats. Journals and periodicals are located on level two of the Thompson library and on the ground floor of Nelson Library.
- Newspaper and magazine collections
In printed form we keep the one month plus the current month of the British broadsheet newspapers, El Pais and Le monde. Older articles from British tabloids can be found on Lexis Nexis.
- Special collections
Rare books, archive materials and extensive photographic collections, Special Collections are located on level four of the Thompson Library.
- Reference collection
Reference items such as handbooks, dictionaries and bibliographies are often an excellent starting place for information and can be found within all libraries.
- Statistics collection
A wide range of statistical information relating to most subject areas, published by various government and international organisations, located in the Thompson and Nelson Libraries.
- Offprints collection
Extracts of materials, such as journal articles and book chapters, which are for supplementary or additional reading, located in Thompson, Nelson and Law libraries.
- DVD, Video and CD collections
An extensive collection of CDs, films, documentaries, animations and training videos in the Thompson and Nelson Libraries. Loan periods vary from 24 hour to two week periods.
Staffordshire Film Archive
Information Services also provide the Staffordshire Film Archive established at Staffordshire University to collect and preserve film image of Staffordshire and the surrounding area. This collection is presently under development and the format and availability may vary.
