  • Art Full text to search for articles on film, television and radio, some of these articles will provide full text on screen
  • International Film Archive to search for articles on film, television and radio (no full text, but bibliographic details only)
  • GMID Global Market Information Database is an online business information system providing business intelligence on countries, consumers and industries.
  • Lexis Nexis for full text newspapers. Search for new and old stories in all the major national and regional newspapers in the UK and abroad.
  • Mediatel an industry standard tool to find statistical information on reading, listening and viewing habits
  • Mintel for consumer market research report

  • Bill Douglas Centre Located at the University of Exeter the centre contains an enormous collection relating to the history of film and visual media. There are also links to other related websites.
  • BUFVC The website of the British Universities Film and Video Council which aims to promote the production, study and use of film related media in Higher Education and research. The site also includes TRILT the television and radio index that enables you to trace past programmes.
  • British Film Institute Tasked with preserving the UK’s film heritage. The site provides comprehensive information on BFI’s activities plus a gateway to further film sites and the National Library’s book catalogue containing over 42,000 entries.
  • CinemaSpace From the University of Berkley, the site is devoted to the study of cinema and new media
  • Intute: a gateway to arts, humanities and the social sciences where you will find quality assured websites in your subject area.
  • Media UK Internet Directory Survey of all UK TV, radio, newspaper and magazine websites. Short features giving pithy but essential background on subjects such as satellite TV and tips for creating radio features.
  • Moving History The guide aims to encourage scholarly research into archive film. It is hoped that the information found here will be of interest to all researchers who seek to expand their understanding and use of moving image material

    Provides 3,000 hours of ITN content online

    Regulatory and licensing authority
  • Radio Academy The professional body for those working in, or with an interest in radio
  • Radio Times Film Site For reviews
  • RAJAR (Radio Ass. Joint Audience Research) This is a statistical site listing all national and commercial radio viewing figures
  • Screen Site Produced by the University of Alabahma, dedicated to collecting links and resources concerned with the study of film and television
  • UK Film Council The site provides details of the council’s remit and the various production funds available. “Lowdown” the low budget funding guide gives advice on funding your low budget film. Also provides an extensive directory
  • Voice of the Shuttle Highly comprehensive listings with pages covering cyberculture, media and cultural studies
