Staffordshire University's course monitoring processes provide the opportunity to reflect on the learning opportunities provided to students, the academic standards achieved and the continued currency of the provision.
Course monitoring represents a key element of the University's approach to quality enhancement; facilitating the dissemination of good practice and ensuring prompt action is taken to address any areas requiring improvement.
Annual Monitoring provides Schools with the opportunity to reflect on and evaluate the effectiveness of their research degree provision. The process allows Schools to consider ways to enhance their provision and provides an effective mechanism for identifying areas of opportunity and potential risk.
At Staffordshire University all academic Departments’ award bearing provision is subject to periodic review normally once every six years unless risk indicators determine that a shorter review period would be beneficial. Reviews are normally undertaken by Department, however where a Department comprises a number of discrete subject areas, further periodic review sub-groups may be agreed by Quality and Enhancement Committee (QEC).
This procedure outlines the process by which Staffordshire University’s research degrees are reviewed at institutional and School level by a Review Panel comprising members internal and external to the University.
