Assessment of your practical work is supported by written assessment – eg. essays, learning portfolios, seminar folders - which encourages you to reflect both on your learning experience and to make the connections between theory and practice.

FdSc Film and Television Production Technology Part-time 3 Years USSL-P-S-F-0002 South Staffordshire College - Lichfield Site Fri 16 Feb 24 11:38

Highly practical and hugely rewarding, the Foundation Degree in Film and Television Production Technology is designed for anyone seeking a career in the world of film and television, either in a technical or managerial capacity.

This course combines work-based learning and academic work to develop sustainable skills for employment. Our in-house production company, Lumina Studios, provides opportunities to build a professional showreel.

Students develop a portfolio of digital film and TV work, including a live studio production, corporate promotional videos, a documentary, and a feature film to be premiered at the Lichfield Guildhall.

Through this course students gain the practical skills and expert knowledge required to become a confident member of any production team.

With plenty of tutor support and guidance, many of our graduates successfully gain industry employment or start their own production companies after they graduate.

Following completion of the Foundation Degree in Film & TV, students can progress onto our BSc (Top-Up) Degree.

Assessments are designed to be interesting, relevant and contemporary, with the aim of enhancing personal and professional development, while also evaluating performance.

Each module normally includes practice or ‘formative’ assessments, for which you receive feedback from your tutor. Practice assessments are developmental and any grades you receive for them do not count towards your module mark. There is a formal or ‘summative’ assessment at the end of each module.

Module assessments such as practical film projects, pitches, presentations and research projects require learners to demonstrate a critical understanding of technical and theoretical concepts of film and television production.

In the case of collaborative projects, where students will be working in teams, peer assessments will support tutor observation reports to determine an individual's contribution to the production of the final project.
