This module is designed to equip you to undertake systematic planning applied to health promotion in a range of settings.
Students must have access to the clinical practice environment.
This 15 credits level 7 module includes: Health and social care policy; contemporary health promotion theory and its application in health and social care; models of health promotion; ethical issues affecting health promotion practice: strategies for supporting changes in behaviour in one to one and group settings including MECC, motivational interviewing; planning and evaluating health promotion initiatives. It will be delivered as taught sessions and supported by a web -based method.
This is a core module on the specialist practice programme. It can also be taken by all healthcare professionals as part of a degree pathway or as an individual module. It is useful if you are looking at developing your health promotion practice either in the acute or community setting.
