This module will focus on developing you knowledge and understanding of sexual and reproductive health and how this knowledge can impact on the effective support within the work environment. It has been developed in consultation with contraceptive and sexual health service commissioners and local work force development managers.

Graduate destinations

Students who work roles within an environment with a sexual health remit will have an ability to work within various specialist or general roles within these health care settings

Entry requirements

This module is for anyone who is currently working in a support role or service and is responsible for having knowledge of sexual and reproductive health issues.

Knowledge and understanding in sexual and reproductive health ensures you have a greater awareness of how to effectively provide care and advice within your workplace.

Module outline

This module provides learning for those working within a support capacity in care services which has a sexual health element. It can be studied as a standalone module or part of foundation programmes and affords 15 Academic Credits at level 4.

It is designed to assist you in developing a systematic approach to the sexual health assessment which will enhance and develop your confidence and competence.

Module overview

The purpose of this module is to provide knowledge and understanding of the issues relating to sexual and reproductive health care. Although this module is a stand-alone module, it is one of a range of modules within the foundation awards within the university.

This module can be pursued either as an individual standalone programme of study as part of the foundation award as an option module.
