Jane Matthews (not her real name) is a retired teacher who came to Stoke-on-Trent in 1960 and never left. Since 2014 she has generously donated £3000 annually to support Staffordshire University students studying the PGCE course from lower income households.
The PGCE Bursary comprises eight awards of £375 each. The bursary aims to assist PGCE students with the growing costs of resources whilst training to become a teacher.

Applications for this bursary are now closed for academic year 2021-2022.
To apply students must complete the online application form, and within the personal statement section in Part 4 outline how the £375 will support you throughout your PGCE year and share your ambitions and achievement goals.
