Get one step ahead of the competition in the ultra-competitive games industry with the World’s first Games PR and Community Management degree.

This ground-breaking course will equip you with the skills, knowledge and expertise to become a key figure in gaming communities across the world. You’ll learn from lecturers with a wealth of experience across the sector and you’ll hear from key guest speakers from major industry names every semester, allowing you to gain a real insight into the industry.

You’ll learn how to create gaming content and campaigns across a variety of outlets, such as gaming communities and social media (Snapchat, Twitch, Reddit, Instagram and beyond) and you’ll develop the key skills the industry is crying out for, such as creative thinking and strategic planning.

You’ll work on live briefs set by industry experts and you’ll develop an industry-ready portfolio and showreel which will allow you to hit the ground running upon graduation. 



Work experience and careers

An optional placement year is available after the second year of study. We support students in finding their own placement opportunities and mentor them throughout.

Dr Ying-Ying LawLecturer

Ying Ying has been working as a full-time lecturer in Games Studies at Staffordshire University since 2017, teaching modules including Esports and Competitive Gaming, MMOG Design Communities and Narratology, New Developments in Games, History of Games Technologies, Fundamentals of Gameplay, Narratology for Games and Computer Games in the Workplace and Society. 

Charlene Sharp
Charlene SharpLecturer

Charlene is a PR and digital strategist who has worked on integrated marketing campaigns for leading games giants such as Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Eidos Interactive, Square Enix, Take Two Interactive, Midway Games, Ubisoft, Disney Interactive and Shindo Interactive.

She oversaw the creation of Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment in the UK (launching titles such as LEGO Batman, F.E.A.R, LEGO Rockband, Contact: Denied Ops) and headed up the UK PR department for Eidos Interactive.

Nia Wearn
Nia WearnLecturer

A Staffordshire University graduate herself, Nia’s career has seen her previously listed as one of the Top 100 Women in Video Games by industry magazine MCV. Her research specialises in ways to understand and encourage games designers.
