“We want to reassure people that places are still available and those entering through Clearing are also being guaranteed a place in University managed accommodation.”
Sharon Young, Head of Admissions and Enrolments
Staffordshire University has drafted in extra staff in preparation for a rush of enquiries as students await publication of their A level results.
An additional 60 trained staff will be helping the University with its Clearing operations over the coming weeks and the University is planning to staff the phone lines throughout the night on the eve of A level results day - in an effort to reassure students about their options.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Liz Barnes said: “Approximately 10 per cent of all students come through Clearing each year and we understand that this can be an incredibly anxious time for people awaiting their results particularly when exam results don’t go to plan.”
“For the first time, we will be open throughout the night from 8pm on Wednesday 17 August through to 9pm on Thursday 18 August to talk to those who are worrying about their results and want to discuss their options. If people struggle to get through, then they can use our website to request a call back.”
Staffordshire University’s 'Clearing Made Clear' campaign is already up and running for those with general inquiries about applying late for a University place.
Help and support on offer includes dedicated webpages featuring available courses, or call into the University where student ambassadors with experience of Clearing will offer personalised tours of the transformed Stoke-on-Trent campus and facilities, and can provide advice on courses.
The University are also reaching out to potential students through planned Snapchat Q and As and Facebook Live Chats and videos where student ambassadors give their top tips and answer any questions coming through their social media channels.
Sharon Young, Head of Admissions and Enrolments at the University, added: "We want to reassure people that places are still available and those entering through Clearing are also being guaranteed a place in University managed accommodation."
