Ed Catchpole is looking to make his mark on the computer games world having landed his dream job.
The BSc (Hons) Computer Games Programming graduate achieved a First in his degree and will be working at Blitz Games Studios in Leamington Spa where he completed his year’s placement.
“University was fantastic – everything I expected and a whole lot more.” said Ed, 21, from Birmingham. “The computer department has a fantastic reputation and it was the exact course I wanted.”
During his placement, Ed was put to work on the eagerly awaited action shooter game Dead to Rights which is due for release in the Autumn and is expected to be as big in gaming circles as Halo and Call of Duty.
Ed added: “Blitz are fast making a name for themselves and not far off becoming a household name. During my placement I was able to work on the actual shooting mechanics but I’d like to work my way up to get more responsibility for the core elements.”
Staffordshire University Vice Chancellor Professor Christine King said: “"We are immensely proud of our Class of 2009 - many of whom are bucking the recession and already proving their worth as industry must-haves. Staffordshire University offers students the opportunity to improve their prospects through an outstanding range of courses, industry standard teaching facilities and meaningful placements - all of which are designed to help graduates make a big impact with employers."
