Graduate Samuel seals his success with a marriage proposal

A Staffordshire University graduate celebrated his awards success with a proposal of marriage.

Samuel Feat, 28, from Wolverhampton waited until after the main event in the King’s Hall, Stoke-on-Trent to pop the question to girlfriend Hagah Owusu, 23.

Just a short time after crossing the stage to receive his degree certificate, Samuel went down on one knee – a scene witnessed by friends and families of the graduating Class of 2018.

He said: “I remember when I first started at Uni and I was going through a lot of challenge financially and she was there for me.”

Samuel worked throughout his course to make ends meet, and having achieved a 2:1 in his BEng (Hons) Electrical Engineering, he is now progressing to a Masters course, also at Staffordshire University.

Reacting to the proposal Hagah, also from Wolverhampton, said: “Of course it was a yes and I am over the moon – I just didn’t expect it to happen in front of all those people.”

More than 500 students graduated during the Staffordshire University’s Autumn Awards Ceremonies held at King’s Hall, Stoke-on-Trent and followed by a reception in Spode China Halls.
