Sisters on the fast-track to success

"Personally I think it's a lot better. Doing it in two years it is hard but if you put the work in you get out what you want at the end.”

Scarlett Kelly, BA (Hons) Business Management (fast-track)

Two sisters are speeding ahead in the business world after opting to take a fast-track course at Staffordshire University.

Ruby Kelly is hot on the heels of older sister Scarlett after being inspired to follow in her footsteps and take the BA (Hons) Business Management fast-track course.

Staffordshire University offers a range of fast-track courses which enable students to gain a full honours degree in two years, instead of three.

Choosing a Fast-track degree can also mean saving thousands of pounds on tuition fees and living costs.

Scarlett chose the course because she was itching to get out into the working world.

She said: “Personally I think it's a lot better - I don't think I could've done three years.  Doing it in two years it is hard but if you put the work in you get out what you want at the end.”

“The support was really good especially from my tutors Vicky and Paul. It does stress you out sometimes but it's all worth it.”

When Scarlett told her sister about the course, Ruby thought it was an opportunity not to miss and started a year later.

"Living in Market Drayton, it's an easy 20-minute commute to the University and I get ot keep my part-time job." said Ruby.

“I’m currently doing the intense course and it is intense but it’s worth it. Like Scarlett I don’t think I could've done three years. I'm enjoying the two year course - it's doable, you just have to put the work in.”

After completing the course, Scarlett soon got a job as Head of Marketing Recruitment at Associ8solutions in Stafford.

Watching on at Scarlett's graduation, Ruby said: “I'm really proud of Scarlett. Seeing her graduating has given me some motivation for this last push of my studies because I know it'll be me next year.”
