Professor Allan Howells
Professor Allan Howells has been appointed to the role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Enterprise and External Affairs) at Staffordshire University. He joins the University’s Executive Team on September 1.
Professor Howells was previously Senior Pro Vice-Chancellor at Glyndŵr University and has significant experience in the leadership and management of research and external relations.
A Professor of Higher Education Administration, Allan also worked for nine years at Keele University in senior planning and academic roles.
Himself a keen physicist with an interest in space flight, Professor Howells was educated at the University of Wales and has a PhD in Atmospheric Physics and Dynamics.
Staffordshire University Vice-Chancellor Professor Michael Gunn said: “Allan has a good understanding of our local and regional position, from his time at Keele University. We are very pleased that he will be joining the Executive team from September this year and that he will help to drive the University forwards in the next ambitious phase of its development.”

Professor Howells is married with two children and lives in Market Drayton.
