Staffordshire University recognised in games industry awards

Staffordshire University has been shortlisted for 'Best Educational Institution' at the TIGA Games Industry Awards 2018.

TIGA is the leading network for games developers and publishers of the games industry in the UK and they also accredit games courses.

The annual awards uniquely recognise excellence in games development, business and education and celebrates the achievements of both small and large games development studios.

Dr Bobbie Fletcher, Associate Professor of Games Education at Staffordshire University, said: “It is really exciting to be nominated in this category. The TIGA awards are a huge deal – it is like the Emmy's for the games world!

“The industry is always evolving and we continually develop our courses to meet the needs of employers in the business. Staffordshire University is the Midlands Powerhouse for games education and it is fantastic to be recognised for our achievements.”

Staffordshire University offers a range of games degrees including Computer Games Design, Computer Games Programming and Games Studies with facilities on campus featuring a hi-tech Vicon Motion Capture Studio and a specialist Games Centre.

Staffordshire University has also launched the UK's first esports degree together with a state-of-the-heart 'Esports Hub' where students can host and broadcast live esports events.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Guildhall in London on Thursday 1st November.
