Student nurse, Lynn Dudley is to undertake her PhD at Staffordshire University after being awarded a research scholarship worth £90,000.
Lynn’s research will be called the ‘PREVIEW’ study which aims to improve care for women who suffer wounds during childbirth. Currently there is little research evidence available and this work has the potential to improve the care provided for women locally, nationally and internationally.
Lynn, who has worked as a midwife for the past 18 years said, “I am delighted to have received this prestigious award which will enable me to pursue my passion for evidence based practice and further pursue my academic career.”
She went on to say, “The award will be my salary and contribute to the overall costs of the research. It is a fantastic opportunity for which I am very grateful to the Smith and Nephew Foundation, Staffordshire University and the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.”
Lynn currently works for the University Hospital of North Staffordshire, Maternity Unit.
Note to editors: The Smith & Nephew Foundation is an independently administered charitable trust funded entirely by global medical technology company Smith & Nephew plc.
