University announces new appointments

Staffordshire University has announced two new senior appointments which will play a prominent role in the future of the organisation.

Noel Morrison has been appointed as Academic Registrar and Director of Student Experience, replacing former Dean of Students Francesca Francis who retired in August.

Georgina Kelly will also be joining the University’s Senior Leadership team in the role of Director of Marketing and Public Relations. Both directors will drive forwards the delivery of the new and ambitious University Plan which is currently at consultation stage.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Michael Gunn: “We are entering a new era both in terms of the national changes affecting higher education nationally and in the development of Staffordshire University and we have made the decision that these senior level appointments are vital in helping us meet those challenges.

“The experience our students get and our reputation on a worldwide scale are number one priorities for us moving forward and every effort has been made to recruit the right people to the job. It’s important that we share our successes and we stand out to our students and customers.”

Noel is no stranger to the Higher Education sector, having worked at London South Bank University and, most recently, Harper Adams University College.

He said: “I am delighted to be joining Staffordshire University. In particular, I am looking forward to working with both staff and students in developing and implementing a distinctive and attractive student experience strategy.

“In doing so, I very much hope that we can find ways to further improve the totality of the student experience and, in turn, to establish the University's reputation not only for the quality of its provision but also the manner in which we consistently support and develop our students.”

Georgina brings with her immense experience, including retail marketing and destination marketing, and is currently employed as Marketing Director at Warwick Castle. She will be working with colleagues to raise the profile of Staffordshire University, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.

She said: “I feel very privileged to be taking this role and am excited at being part of an organisation that deserves recognition, not just as a leading and inspirational home to higher education, but as a business that is an integral part of the region."

Both directors will be starting in post on January 3, 2012.
